From the weekend...

This weekend was filled with very Grimesy moments. If you know us well, you know just what I'm talking about. Here are a few:

1. Math trivia around the dinner table tonight. Eden rocked it.
2. Sharing surgery stories...during mine, I was explaining how I felt when I woke up and Elly said, "Did you use F words?" My jaw hit the floor...my mind was racing trying to figure out where in the world she'd heard this...then she says, "Or G words?"
3. Eden asked me what "hot" meant (not the temperature kind, either). So I tried to explain it's what people call someone else who they think is cute, or attractive...she cuts me off and says, "Mom, I think the word you are searching for here is sexy." I am not lying, that is verbatim.
4. Esias was running around without a diaper on and pottied on the carpet. Eden yelled, "He peed out his p*nis!" Dan sort of scolded her slightly and I said, "Well, that is what it is..." and Elly yelled, "Yep, it's a p*nis!"
[now just so you know, I used an asterisk not because I am afraid to type the word, but so I don't draw people into my blog who are searching that word!]
5. Me laying with the kids in bed, singing lullabies to them, including the song from The Little Mermaid..."look at this stuff, isn't it neat...wouldn't ya think my collection's complete..." I know all the words and sing them out at the top of my lungs.

We had a fun, relaxing weekend after the hospital drama. We are praising God even more that Esias did not have scar tissue in his throat, after learning that that can be a fatal complication of the supraglottoplasty surgery. Thank you Jesus for preserving our little boy's life. He is closer to walking each day!

MJ

I know that it's difficult for her to understand, but dude, when is Eden's obsession with Michael Jackson going to end?

Fatty Cakes

Esias at 11 months, >15 lbs

Esias at 15 months, 21 lbs!

Our little man has gained over 6 pounds since he's been home! We weighed him tonight and he tipped the scales at 21 lbs! Woo hoo! Dumping copious scoops of rice cereal into each of his bottles has not hurt this venture, that's for sure! He's beginning to look like a little chubster.

Toofer Sutherland Meets Obi Wan

Esias discovered Elly's beloved Obadiah baby. He LOVED him. Elly said, "Hey! Esias and Obadiah look the same. They both have curly hair!"

Just love the way he's sitting with his cute little tootsies.

At this point, the jealous mother of Obi has snatched him away!

Esias (or Zi Zi, the nickname du jour) has endured cutting seven teeth
since he came home 3.5 months ago! This next batch of photos was my
nearly vain attempt to get a shot at all his new toofers.

Here you can see five of them I think.

Random pic of Eden thrown in here. Those are her pjs on her head.

I almost got the shot! Just missing the two around his upper middles, whatever those are called.

Ok, Mom, get outta here so I can sleep!

We're Home again

Home! Ahhh. Esias had a bath and now we're going on walk. He's doing well, nothing alarming. Good news.

Esias is out of OR

He's out of the OR and is recovering back in our room now. They did not have to laser or cut anything, THANK GOD! He is doing well and can eat any time now! Yay. The doctor determined that his noise and weird breathing may just be because of some swelling due to his aspiration and/or reflux so we might have to consult with Peds. GI and the Speech Path. people (swallow study people) for that again. As for now, he's good, no major complications and we are glad he's back to himself (almost). Thanks for your prayers. We are on track to go home tonight if he stays this way!

We're Back at the U

Esias' breathing was unsatisfactory to the doctors so we find ourselves back at Children's for the night. Hoping just one night. Tomorrow AM they are doing yet another bronchoscopy (yes, for those of you counting at home, that's three) so pray my baby boy does ok under the sedation and that they can find what they are needing to find and not have to do anything too major. He goesunder at 9am and they will look first and repair if needed. There is swelling in his vocal cord area and they want to look and see if there is scar tissue they need to laser off. Pray for me too, if you can, I am beginning to question all these things and wondering if we should just let him be. I have to trust the doctors but I am tired of the procedures! Going to bed on a fold out couch now. Night night.

Breathing drama *sigh*

Poor Esias. The little dude is happy, playing, eating, sleeping...everything normal...except his breathing is wack jack. He is breathing like 70 res. per minute and really squeaky! I thought we fixed this!! Ug. Well, I put in a call to the U and I am waiting to hear back. They may or may not want to see him. Thanking God we're near the U!

Esias T. Poopypants.

Esias, a.k.a. "Esias T. Poopypants" or "Esias Tesfias Grimias" or "E-man" or "Zi Zi"...we dig nicknames around here.

Not sure if he'd doing the "eat" sign or if he just has his hand in his mouth.

Sporting his new towel from one of my mom's coworkers. Such a thoughtful gift- even has his name on it!

lemme outta here!

Now this is a face you might not have seen before...my grumpy little boy!

Ah, that's better!

You know that "love your kids so much it hurts" feeling? I got it bad.

First Day of Preschool

I had forgotten these first day of school pics were on our older camera. Here is our traditional-in-front-of-the-tree pose! Elly Lyn's first day of Preschool!

Of course, Dan, the son of the photog, has to give them poses...

Esias was NOT into the group shot.

Sissy is so proud!
