We're Back at the U
Esias' breathing was unsatisfactory to the doctors so we find ourselves back at Children's for the night. Hoping just one night. Tomorrow AM they are doing yet another bronchoscopy (yes, for those of you counting at home, that's three) so pray my baby boy does ok under the sedation and that they can find what they are needing to find and not have to do anything too major. He goesunder at 9am and they will look first and repair if needed. There is swelling in his vocal cord area and they want to look and see if there is scar tissue they need to laser off. Pray for me too, if you can, I am beginning to question all these things and wondering if we should just let him be. I have to trust the doctors but I am tired of the procedures! Going to bed on a fold out couch now. Night night.

There's No Place Like Home

Esias playing on a floor mat Saturday night. He was on steroids and had to get down and play! He was looking much better at this point.

A little groggy this morning, but so cute. The only small size gown they had was pink. He just can't get away from wearing pink.

Daddy and Esias watching TV this morning. We loved University of Iowa Children's Hospital! The nurses were good (except for the overnight nurse with the extra loud voice!).
We got discharged this morning (Sunday) and we were everso glad to be home. Esias literally had glee in his eyes when he saw the family room. It occurred to me that he might have thought we were actually living there! I think he was relieved when we left.
So here's his health update. He's breathing MUCH easier. Quieter and less strained, it seems. Feeding-wise, we are still having some issues. He is still having some mild to moderate aspirations, though he seems to do a good job getting it back out of his lungs with some strong coughs. We are thickening the formula with rice cereal now and that seems to help (though he is a little perplexed about why it isn't coming out of the nipple more quickly).
We follow up with Oto in three weeks. In the meantime, he is on some Augmentin and Prilosec (for reflux) and just Tylenol for the pain.
